Where to Eat Near Palmetto Dunes: A Local's Guide
One of the best parts of staying at Villamare 3424: you can eat very well without ever starting the car. Here's where we send our guests.
San Miguel's — the owner's favorite
Waterfront Mexican at Shelter Cove Harbour, with live outdoor music seven nights a week from April through October. Go for sunset, stay for the second margarita. An easy Dunes Buggy ride away — the resort's free shuttle (843-689-4222) serves Shelter Cove Harbour daily in season.
The Dunes House
About a 10-minute walk from Villamare, right off the beach at 14 Dune House Ln. Fish tacos, frozen drinks, live music on select evenings — it's the definitive post-beach lunch. Open 11 a.m.–6 p.m., bar until 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Shelter Cove Harbour
The harbour has a full lineup of waterfront restaurants beyond San Miguel's — seafood, steakhouses, and casual docks-and-decks spots. In summer, time dinner to catch the weekly fireworks over the marina.
Stocking the kitchen
Villamare 3424 has a full kitchen, and Shelter Cove Towne Centre — right across from the harbour — has a Kroger for groceries, plus Belk and more shops. Most guests do one big run on arrival day and eat half their meals on the balcony overlooking the ocean.
Worth the drive
Harbour Town in Sea Pines (about 20 minutes) has the island's most famous dining strip under the lighthouse. Make it a sunset trip — dinner, then the drive back along the marsh.
